Whilst Lammergeiers is by nature a collaborative project, "Big Bird' has the distinction of being a rare collaboration between man and vulture.

Written and recorded over the course of a week in August 2020, 'Big Bird' follows the story of a rare bearded vulture who took up residence in the Peak District National Park 1000s of miles from her natural habitat: During the daylight hours band-member James Youngjohns tracked the vulture, watching her forage for food over the crags and valleys of the Peak District and losing himself in her world as he clambered the hills and wandered the meadows of heather that fill the valleys. In the evenings he worked on this piece, attempting to capture a feeling of what it was like to be in that strange world.

Performed on solo guitar via multiple loops, Big Bird is an expression of the experience of attempting to walk in another creature's footsteps.
